Plans are being made for a series of talks, presentations and workshops to be held over the coming year featuring a wide range of topics including how to grow wild flower meadows, the basics of bee keeping, how to create a pollinator friendly environment and much more. In July 2021 we are hoping to host an event to coincide with the international Bees Needs Week, an annual event coordinated by DEFRA. This is when it is anticipated that Arundel will receive the title of The UK’s First Bee Friendly Town and initial plans are for the town to host a number of events to coincide with that, including talks, workshops, perhaps a market of bee related products, maybe an exhibition of bee art – or what ever else people can come up with!

To be(e) or not to be(e)…”

OK – Shakespeare was highly unlikely to have been thinking of pollinators when he penned these famous words from Hamlet, but times have changed considerably since then and the plight of bees, butterflies and other insects that play such an important part in the ecosystem is a subject that should concern us all. There can’t be many people who are unaware of the recent media coverage of the planet’s environmental problems. While some of the challenges may require major changes in lifestyles and some solutions will have to be driven by governments and world agencies, many have been thinking what we as individuals can do to help and it is with this in mind that The Arundel Bee Project has been launched.
